Meet Our Warriors

COACH BARBARA DAVIS, former owner, general manager and head coach of pro-minor basketball team, the Texas Hurricanes, an exhibition team that was based in Dallas, TX from 2009-2019, that competed against teams that were a part of the ABA, TPBL, UBL and IBL leagues and competed in tournaments like Tournament of the Stars and the FedEx tournament, among playing in other leagues and tournaments. Coach Davis ran this organization while being a single mother of 4 girls and grandmother on 1 plus working full-time for Dallas Colleges.

Coach Davis is currently a breast cancer warrior and continues to help make a difference in the lives of others. She is now working full-time at Tarrant County College, founder of a non-profit organization called ALPHA FEMALE LEAGUE INC and partners with several other organizations to provide outreach services and programs to the community. Alpha Female League [AFL] educates, empowers, inspires and mentors youths through young adults, ages 6 thru 26 to excel and stride to achieve greatness, discover themselves and their roots, grow sisterhood, self-love & respect and provide guidance to help them to “Become Strong, Confident and Ambitious Women.”

“Basketball is my passion” says Coach Davis. “Ever since I started playing with my brothers and his friends and going to the summer camp that was held by the Kansas Jay Hawks, where I meet Danny Manning and he took me under his wings and showed me how to control my speed on the court so I could make a controlled layup, I was hooked!”

“And as a ward of the state of Kansas, sports was a blessing and outlet for me. If it wasn’t for my coach and team, I don’t know how I would have gotten through many of those years. This is why I do what I do. The game changed my life and I hope that I can do the same for someone else.”           ~ Coach Barbara Davis

Her love for family, sports, and the game of basketball, drives her to provide quality and affordable entertainment that the whole family and community can enjoy and be a part of. This dedication to family and community led Coach Davis to joining the American Basketball Association. The league has been around since the NBA and had a major impact on the league and it is the largest sports league in the world.

Meet the newest member to our team! Ms. Breanna, an aspiring photographer comes to us with a vision in photography. She may be a beginner in the field, but her passion for taking photos and love of the game, she is a great asset to us. We are honored that she chose WePlay4theCause Sports to start her journey in photography. 

We look forward to watching and guiding her on her vision.

Avery Casey, military vet and father to one of our talented high school elite player, Mr. Casey has been a God send and has been a great help in building and keeping our high school basketball team going. 

Mr. Casey is a great role model for our young men and we are so happy to have him on board!

We are currently seeking a tournament assistant that has experience coordinating tournaments [and leagues], and have connections and good repour with teams, coaches, parents and players. This would be an ongoing position and on a contractual basis.

We are seeking a head coach for our middle school, high school and men's professional teams. If you have experience an are interested in this position, Contact Us so that we can set up a mutual time to talk in detail. 

All youth coaches must pass a background check. 

We are seeking a 2 interns that are currently getting their degree in sports management, coaching, etc. or recently graduated for our assistant coaching positions. These positions are for our middle & high school and men's professional teams.

We are in need of referees that are experienced and certified. All referees must pass a background check, prior to officiating any games with us.
